At your first visit, Dr. Jennifer Do will perform a comprehensive oral examination where we identify, diagnose and treatment plan the management of any issues we find in your mouth – we check your teeth and gums for any cavities, gum disease, missing and broken teeth.

As a baseline, we also take digital x-rays at your first visit, and every 2 years after unless there is reason to take further x-rays inbetween. 

She will then provide you with a treatment plan and answer any questions you might have.

If you wish to get treatment on the day such as a clean or filling you suspect you might need, please be so kind to tell the receptionist when making your booking so we can allocate the appropriate amount of time.

We have invested in the EMS Airflow system where we dye your teeth to identify plaque deposits on your teeth. We educate you on plaque, the decay process and how to brush your teeth effectively. The EMS Airflow system ensures the most comfortable experience for something that can be quite uncomfortable. It is often referred to as The Dental Spa Experience 

At your first visit as a patient at The Liverpool Dentist, you can expect to have a comprehensive oral examination (check up), baseline bitewing x-rays, a thorough scale and clean, followed by a fluoride treatment.

To fix your teeth from cavities, chips or cracks or even to reshape them in order to improve their size, shape or colour, we can restore them with a number of materials suitable for our mouths. 

We use tooth-coloured materials such as Composite Resin and Glass Ionomer Cements as well as metallic restorative materials such as Amalgam. 

The usual process is this:

1. We prepare your tooth by roughening your tooth and removing any decay or weakened tooth structure with our special drills
2. We create micro scratches in your tooth to allow for better bonding between your tooth and the restorative material. We do this chemically by applying a 37% orthophosphoric acid we refer to simply as “etch”
3. Once washed and dried, we may apply some medication onto the base of the cavity to help protect your tooth and lessen post-op sensitivity. 
4. We apply a “bond” which allows the filling material to better stick to the tooth. We set this clear liquid with our special blue LED light. 
5. We place the appropriate filling material, shaping it to match the tooth. It usually is a shapeable paste or liquid that we set with our special blue LED light to harden it. 
6. Finally we make sure the filling fits your “bite” by getting you to bite on a thin blue piece of paper that shows us any “high” spots.

When looking at your smile, we consider all things – that is, not just the colour of your teeth, but their alignment – are your teeth straight, do they have a nice smile arc, how prominent are your buccal corridors, is there symmetry, are the size and shape of your teeth proportional to your face?

Treatment may be a combination of composite resin veneers, porcelain veneers, crown & bridge work, implants, orthodontics & clear aligners, anti-wrinkle injections and fillers. The list goes on! We aim to not only make your mouth functional for you, but beautiful as well!

Dr. Jennifer Do actually enjoys extractions of all kinds! She ensures you know all the risks involved and what to expect before, during and after the procedure. If there is something that appears too complicated or risky, she will advise you of this and refer you to a specialist – making sure your comfort, time, money and wellbeing is properly directed.

Dentures are great replacements for missing teeth. We offer acrylic dentures, cobalt-chrome dentures and valplast (flexible dentures). Be aware that often this is a multiple visit procedure involving:

• Taking an impression (or mould) of your upper and lower jaw
• Bite Registration: Recording how your jaws come together (and thus where to place your teeth on the denture)
• Try-in: We trial your denture in wax so we can easily make adjustments
• Issue: We give you your denture and fit it in your mouth. 
• Denture adjustments are normal after receiving your dentures – it is like wearing in a new pair of shoes!

When the nerve of a tooth becomes injured it can become inflamed and die. Sometimes this is a result of trauma (for example, tripping and knocking your front tooth) or from decay that has gotten so large, that it has reached the nerve. Unfortunately when this happens, we need to remove the nerve and disinfect the tooth from the inside. This is called Root Canal Therapy. 

Usually a 2-3 appointment procedure, we first have to find the canals, then disinfect and shape the canals and finally we must fill the canals so that they are sealed from further infection. 

After this procedure, it is recommended you crown the tooth to help protect it from cracking.

Often referred to as a “cap” on the tooth, it really is like a porcelain jacket that covers the tooth completely and basically “hugs” your tooth, keeping the tooth from trying to break apart every time you munch on something. 

This generally is performed over 2-3 appointments.

A dental bridge is when there are more than one crown. It is a great alternative to dental implants to replace missing teeth.

Here at the Liverpool Dentist, we love kids! We try and make their time at the dentist as pleasant as possible as we want to educate them and make sure they aren’t ever afraid to come back! 

We check whether your kids teeth are progressing as they should be – and whether or not they should be considering braces! 

We also teach YOU and them the do’s and don’ts when it comes to looking after their teeth e.g. sugary drinks is a big no-no!

We also provide happy gas (nitrous oxide) if deemed necessary.

Dental implants are a great way to replace missing teeth. They are closest thing we have available to natural teeth! 

A dental implant is a piece of titanium that looks like a screw. It is put into the jaw where the missing tooth was. Over time, bone grows around the implant, which helps to hold it in place.

An artificial tooth, or crown, is then attached to the metal to fill in the gap left by the missing tooth. The crown is specially made to look like the other teeth in size, shape and colour.

Dental implants can also be used to hold a dental bridge or dentures in place.

Here at the Liverpool dentist, Dr. Jennifer Do both places and restores dental implants. With a thorough consultation, she can determine if you are suitable for an implant. Everything is explained and all questions you might have, are answered.

Fixed Metal Braces

Dr. Jennifer Do is a general dentist with a special interest in orthodontics. She has completed a MClindent in Orthodontics. She can complete mild to moderate orthodontic cases and she can refer out complex cases to a specialist orthodontist if needed

Clear Aligners – Smilestyler + Invisalign

Here at the Liverpool Dentist we offer two brands of clear aligners – SmileStyler and Invisalign. Clear aligners is a series of clear plastic removable orthodontic aligners that gently move patients’ teeth over time. The initial consultation will help us determine if you are suitable for clear aligners. We take photos and an OPG to help us see if you are. With SmileStyler, we are able to provide a complimentary scan of your teeth to which we will provide a simulation of how your teeth will move, and how many trays you may need, determining how long we predict your treatment will go for.

We provide two avenues of whitening – in chair whitening & take home whitening

• In-Chair whitening: 1.5h appointment consisting of 2 x 20min rounds of Opalscence Boost which is comprised of 40% hydrogen peroxide
• Take home whitening: Opalescence Go! comes in 6 %, 10%, 15% hydrogen peroxide pre-formed trays. These are great for convenience and on the go!
• Touch ups: We recommend using the POLA Luminate 6% hydrogen peroxide pen for simple and easy touch-ups after whitening.
